So obviously, the jargon "distributed authoring" needs to be explained so everyone can understand just what it means and what bearing it has to them as users of the TCFC page.

Distributed Authoring

Distributed authoring is best explaiend by comparing it to the alternative. Classically webpages were closely guarded essentially static fronts for businesses and organizations. There was a very restricted group of web developers, webmasters, and administrators who were allowed to created new content for a webpage. These are your classic big corporate websites, apple.com, bestbuy.com, ge.com, microsoft.com, etc. etc.

The TCFC website is a currently a very important tool for every parent, coach, and board member. It is by far the most powerful tool the club has to perform its mission, developing, promoting, and administering the game of soccer among the youth of the Texas City and surrounding areas. So that leads us to perhaps the most important question, Why change the TCFC website at all?

Many people will recognize that we had a perfectly working, very powerful website before this change. However there was a group of very key features that were missing. These are the guidelines that were outlined by Ed Schipul of 'Schipul - The Web Marketing Company' a Houston based web development and marketing firm.

As far as the new TCFC website goes there are 3 very distinct experiences, the administrator experience, the registered user experience, and the anonymous user experience. There may eventually be more user catergories than those three but they will all essentially boil down to a version of one of the three users. This change, as with any change, is sure to bring about many questions. This book (a unique benefit of this new system) will attempt to address all of these questions. As a powerful dynamic system this book will be able to answer questions as they are queried. To ask a question feel free to send an email to the webmaster.
